If you receive a pension from overseas, you may be asked on an annual basis to complete a “Proof of Life Certificate” to show that you are still alive and eligible to receive the pension. This means that you need to attend an appointment with a notary, present your identity documents and sign a form. The notary will then sign and stamp the document. Before we notarise these documents, we encourage you to see whether there is any other professional that can verify this for you. Sometimes for example, the pension provider will accept your doctor’s signature and often that is a more cost-efficient route.
